Walked around the Statue in front of the San Diego Zoo with my phone in 2024, just now processed using SAM 3.1 for people removal with masks, colmap, then nerfstudio splatfacto. For some reason the splatfacto portion still trains people back in, although starting without them in the colmap pointcloud definitely helps. Masks are provided and loaded, but doesn't appear to be super effective, will try the mask workflow with Lichtfeld next!
