The station was opened on 30 January 1952 as part of the "Kurskaya" — "Belorusskaya" section. The station is the latest work for the metro architect Alexey Dushkin[1] and a designated cultural heritage site.[2] Since 1988, it has had a transition to the station "Mendeleyevskaya" Serpukhovsko-Timiryazevskaya line, becoming the last station of the Koltsevaya Line to receive a transfer.
Between November 2020 and March 2022, Novoslobodskaya was closed for reconstruction.
