Here is my submission for the Xgrids World Backup Project challenge.
I chose to scan a group of abandoned buildings near Buoux, in the Luberon: old buildings, multi-level interiors, large outdoor areas, an abandoned garden… all of it now heavily covered in graffiti.
After capturing the entire site with my Portal Cam, I wanted to go beyond a simple scan and create a real scenography within the space.
I transformed the site into a skate / hip-hop / graffiti universe, with several different atmospheres spread across the various areas: a skate zone, a bar, a streetwear fashion show, a skate ramp, breakdance…
The particularity of the project is that everything was created and assembled in Gaussian Splatting.
Characters, furniture, the bar, bottles, skateboards, accessories… every element was generated and then integrated directly into SuperSplat.
For the characters, I also experimented with a specific workflow using ChatGPT + TripoSplat, generating certain body parts separately before assembling them, in order to preserve more detail while keeping the assets lightweight.
The final result combines real-world capture with scenography created entirely from splats.
At the end of the video, I also show the full scale of the site, which is much larger than the scenographed area.
