My first attempt at capturing 3D macro objects, or gaussian splatting in general.
To automate the capturing of images, I used the scAnt 3D scanner (https://github.com/evo-biomech/scAnt). Shooting took half a day.
I used COLMAP and Spirula to generate the cloud, using an RTX 3070 with 8 gb of VRAM. I used the default settings (30,000 steps, 1,000,000 max splats...). But I know a better result could be obtained with the same set of pictures. I used COLMAP because I did not know it was not needed for Spirula.
Images: 320 composites, each made with 19 stacked pictures (6080 pictures total)

Focal length: 55mm
Lens: Canon EFS 18-55mm + 21mm extension ring
Camera: Canon EOS 200D
