NJ Ranch Home (no Ceiling)
This project represents the result of the past two weeks of refining my workflow for creating complete interior home Gaussian splats. My goal was to develop a fast, repeatable process for scanning an entire home by capturing and reconstructing each room individually before combining everything into a single seamless scene.
One of the biggest challenges with interior reconstruction is preventing connected rooms from blending into one another while still maintaining accurate alignment throughout the house.
For this project, I captured the entire property using only my Sony a7S III. I had a single opportunity to scan the home, so every room had to be photographed correctly during one visit. The on-site capture took approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes.
After returning home, I organized the images by room and reconstructed each room individually in MipMap. Each completed splat was then imported into SuperSplat, where every room was manually aligned, merged, and refined into one complete home. The final stage involved cleaning seams, repairing holes, and refining transitions between rooms to create a cohesive reconstruction.
Excluding MipMap's processing time, the reconstruction, alignment, merging, and cleanup required approximately two days of work.
This project marks a significant step toward a reliable workflow for producing full-home Gaussian splat reconstructions from standard camera photography.
