Yep, I used a tripod. f22 to keep everything in focus. And yes, it took a while. I'm thinking about building a USB gPhoto tool that automatically takes pictures when the camera is stable, and foucs stacks if needed, so that the process just reduces to moving the camera around on its tripod...

Isn't f/22 a very small aperture? Did you use a tripod to stabilize the image and take a long-exposure photo, or did you adjust the ISO?

Ah thanks! I'll run some more experiments to see if I can get a better registration. The main reason I chose to downsample was that the images were a bit soft at f22 and 45.7MP (and the lens is a manual focus from 1984!) By the way - I love your botanical garden splats and I was definitely inspired! They are the ideal splat candidates. Looking forward to improving the process and sharing more :)

Very nice! You don't have to downsample in darktable. You could simply align in reality scan on a lower resolution but keep the full res when exporting colmap.
