It is said that the ancient Friday Mosque of Barakh and its minaret were constructed during the reign of Sultan Muhammad IV Dervud Rasgafanu, who ruled from 1692 to 1701 AD. The wooden components of the existing buildings were reconstructed using traditional techniques. The mosque and minaret were renovated by the National Center for Linguistic and Historical Research in 2002.
