This scan was taken in the last few days before the Arts and Industries building was closed until the year 2031 due to extensive remodeling plans. This historic building was recently announced to become the new Smithsonian Institution's National Museum of the American Latino.
So in other words - this is the last view you'll ever have of this building as it is. Which is why scanning and capturing sites for cultural and historic preservation is so critical. The new museum will undoubtably be marvelous, but this will ALSO be here to remember in its own little way.
