The ZSU-23-4 "Shilka" (GRAU index: 2A6) is a Soviet self-propelled anti-aircraft gun system developed by OKB-40 under the direction of Chief Designer N. A. Astrov.
The ZSU-23-4 derives its name from the Shilka River, a tributary of the Amur. The system is designed to protect army combat formations, marching columns, stationary installations, and railway trains against aerial attack. It is capable of destroying aerial targets at slant ranges between 200 and 2,500 meters and at altitudes of up to 1,500 meters, engaging targets traveling at speeds of up to 450 m/s; it is also capable of engaging ground (or surface) targets at ranges of up to 2,000 meters.
