A 3D Gaussian Splatting scene reconstructed from aerial drone footage of Sumela Monastery, a historic cliffside monastery built into the steep rock face above a dense green mountain valley in Turkey. The scene focuses on the contrast between the pale stone architecture, red-tiled roofs, dark cave entrance, vertical cliffs, and surrounding forest — making it an interesting test case for video-based reconstruction of complex rock surfaces, vegetation, and distant architectural detail.
Camera alignment was done in RealityScan, and the final 3DGS reconstruction was built in LichtFeld.
