KulturGut Poggenhagen (Der Bovista) — 24.04.2026
During a recent field study, the KOSMOS-3D scanner rig was deployed at KulturGut Poggenhagen to evaluate its performance within a sophisticated spatial context.
The primary subject was Bovista, a forest installation by Claas H. Bläubaum. This site served as a test case for capturing detailed architectural forms integrated with the organic environment.
KOSMOS-3D
Research Initiative led by Prof. Alexandre Kutter, Aram Badr, and Sam Wiemann.
Hardware:
• Camera: GoPro Hero 13 Black action Cam x3
• Paintroller extension pole: 2 M
• Custom 3D-printed mounts
• Consumer-grade mobile device
Software:
• Training Pipeline: Reality scan for Colmap data
• LichtFeld Studio V0.5.2
• Our own app to control the rig
Workflow:
The capture path consisted of a semi-arc trajectory around the installation at varying offsets. Additional circular scanning of a nearby transporter and adjacent forestry was conducted to establish essential spatial references, enabling the integration of the architectural form into its environmental context.
Camera capture was triggered simultaneously on all three cameras using a Bluetooth remote app.
