St Lawrence’s Church, Old Bradwell

Overview & Key Features
Origins: Founded prior to the mid-12th century. The south doorway features a blocked Norman round-headed arch (c. 1200).
Tower: Features a distinctive saddleback (gabled) roof added around 1380, reinforced by a prominent exterior flying buttress on the southwest wall.
Architecture: Blend of Norman, Early English, and Perpendicular Gothic styles, built with local limestone rubble and ashlar dressings.
Restorations: Major Victorian and Edwardian restorations took place in 1868 and 1903 (the latter led by architect Edward Swinfen Harris).
