The Peace Bell stands in the Japanese garden at Enger Park, on the bluff above Duluth, Minnesota. It is a replica of a temple bell from Ohara, Japan. During World War II the original bell was taken down so its metal could go to the war effort. It survived the war intact, and the crew of the USS Duluth brought it home to the city. Duluth returned the bell to Ohara in 1954, and in 1993 Ohara-Isumi gave Duluth this replica. The two cities have been sister cities since 1990, and the garden around the bell was dedicated in 2010.
This scene was captured on an October morning in 2026, with the fall color at its peak. Move around the bell and its red timber frame, look up into the roof, and take in the garden around it.
