To answer your question: the images were captured automatically every second along the path described. While good planning is essential to avoid excessive overlapping, we did consider manual captures for more targeted data. However, we found two main drawbacks to that approach:
1_Rig Stability: If the phone controlling the GoPros is attached to the rig, we risk motion blur every time we tap to capture.
2_Handling: If the phone is detached, we’d have to hold the rig with one hand, which makes the footage much less stable.
We actually deliberately avoided the parking area this time to respect the privacy of the vehicle owners. That said, we could definitely look into covering it during a weekend when it's less crowded!
