Sleeping Dog on a Blue Blanket (American Pit-Bull Terrior with Brindle Hair)

This is my dog Nutmeg. It took a lot of tries to splat her. She’d twitch, blink, or lift her head. I shot about a dozen takes over an hour until the last one. 2 minutes 45 seconds of my dog asleep. I used a soft video light because I didn’t want a flash to startle her, and shot 4K video on my Canon R6 Mark II on a DJI RS 5 gimbal. And 16mm prime lens to move less. I’m on a Mac (an M1 with 16GB), so I couldn’t use some of the popular tools, like RealityScan (which needs an NVIDIA/CUDA GPU). So here is my workflow to create the asset: FFmpeg pulled about 500 frames from the video. A small Python script then kept only the sharpest frame from each group, which left 216. COLMAP aligned the cameras. Spirula Studio trained the splat (30k steps). That ran for about 14 hours overnight on the M1. SuperSplat was where I did the final cleanup: removing floaters and the background around her. I’m new to splats and 3D in general and still learning as I go. Seeing what everyone shares here is what got me started, and I’m excited to be part of this community!

Thanks, @b1tya3v ! It was a video. Full frame camera on a gimbal (Canon R6 Mark2 + DJI RS 5) And collected and cull the images, with FFMPEG. But the biggest challenge was to keep my dog still while I move a lot.

this scan is so good did u use a continious video or multiple photos for this?
