The Watermill is purely decorative and was never intended to grind grain. Like all the rustic cottages of the Hamlet, special care was given to the exterior details, meticulously painted in trompe-l’œil. Here, as throughout the Hamlet, the paintwork imitates weathered joints, peeling plaster, and even moss growing over the walls. Everything is designed to create a perfect illusion of reality.
