This moth gets its name from the dark, dagger-like markings on its wings. Its grey, dusty coloration provides excellent camouflage against tree bark and similar surfaces. The antennae are smooth rather than bushy, unlike those of many other moths. Although the grey dagger and dark dagger are distinct species, the adult moths are almost indistinguishable in appearance. The larvae, however, are noticeably different. Shot from 137 perspectives, 16 focus stacked images each. Nikon D810, cropped sensor, f/16, ISO 200, Tamron 90mm macro lens and 30mm extension, with Speedlights. www.patreon.com/DanyBittel
