This fly looks similar to a regular housefly, though it is slightly more orange. Its most distinctive feature is the golden, fuzzy "wig" of hairs on its
thorax. Cluster flies are slower and calmer than typical houseflies, and you can often catch them quite easily. When resting, or dead like this, they fold their wings neatly so that the front and back pairs overlap perfectly. In autumn, they often gather in clusters to overwinter in sheltered spots, hence their name.
Shot from 111 perspectives, 16 focus stacked images each. Nikon D810, cropped sensor, f/20, ISO 320, Tamron 90mm macro lens and 20mm extension, with Speedlights.
