Zhao Yongxian's Mansion is a 400-year-old Ming Dynasty residence located in Nan Zhao Lane, Changshu, Jiangsu Province, China. Now preserved as a national heritage site, it was home to the renowned scholar-bureaucrat Zhao Yongxian and his son Zhao Qimei, whose private library "Mawangguan" (Insect-of-Wisdom Library) once housed over 20,000 rare ancient texts, including half of the surviving Yuan Dynasty operas. The mansion features intricate wood carvings and decorative paintings on beams and pillars, showcasing Suzhou's traditional craftsmanship. Its layout includes a central courtyard for family gatherings and a two-story library wing with fire-resistant brick walls, reflecting ancient Chinese architectural wisdom in balancing functionality and aesthetics.
