Looks great! And I appreciate yall are going into 3DGS to compliment the 3D work we did with your team years ago for customization, each medium has a purpose. When it comes to customer confidence and photo-realism its hard to beat the efficiency and low-cost entry for 3DGS versus going after incredibly high-fidelity (and costly/dense meshes) of just 3D.

Okay, I got it. Makes sense to have this as splat and the quality is phenomenal! I think its no fair comparison to real-world captures, but thats a different story. This serves its purpose for sure :)

As a splat, we have the advantage of baked-in lighting details otherwise not as achievable during real-time presentation on the Web. High quality path-traced results like global illumination, indirect bounces, sub-surface scattering, etc, are all achievable in real-time with splats.

Why is this a splat and not a mesh object?

The only way to get it better is to add MR visualization to it.
