This is a solitary wasp, the cute version of a regular wasp. It has a thin waist to move it's abdomen forward and precisely sting it's prey into the exact nerve to immobilize a it. They are little neurological surgeons, they don't use their stinger for defense. Then it can carry a pray often larger then itself, back to the nest, that's why it has huge muscles. It's mandibles are powerful, but not for eating, it digs holes into wood to lay it's egg. It then places a dead insect with it's egg for it to feed on. Grown ups usually feed on nectar. Shot with 130 perspectives, 16 focus stacked images each. Nikon D810 on cropped sensor, f/18, ISO 320, Tamron 90mm macro lens and 20mm extension, with Speedlights www.patreon.com/DanyBittel
